Chicago, Illinois – Black men are demanding the city help them with the resources to help rebuild the community. These men are literally in the process of taking over abandoned property and training at risk youth to help fix up the properties that the city is trying to demolish.

Many of the properties are generally in pretty decent condition as far as the frame being solid brick and these men are saying they are not going to allow the city to tear down perfectly good homes.

A lot of the homes are boarded up and abandoned due to subprime lending where the Lenders/Bankers sucked the resources out of certain communities, left them in total disarray, foreclosed on the properties and resold many of them for pennies on the dollar to Hedge Fund Investors.

This happened by way if issuing Interest only mortgages where the borrower paid only the interest and no principal and when the term was up, they were forced to pay interest plus principle which the majority was unable to do therefore losing their properties while hedge fund investors bet against the people and walked away with tons of properties.

These investors slowly take over certain areas which are considered prime real estate and move the minorities out and gentrify the neighborhoods.

The men called on Alderman Michael Scott 24th Ward, Alderman  Jason Ervin 28th Ward,  and Alderman Walter Burnett 27th Ward and all the Aldermen across the city to help them make this happen.

The group said they are going all over the city and taking over the 20,000 properties that are sitting idle waiting to be torn down.

They then said that the people in the community want the buildings demolished however they don’t realize that for every building that is demolished, property taxes goes up.

The spokesperson Mark Carter said NHS, CIC and Globe Trotters organizations were supposed to help their parents and grandparents but instead they allowed the city to demolish their homes.

The men said the Mayor and Alderman sit back and watch these children get murdered in the communities and they refuse to sit back and do nothing about it.

He said they are demanding  the resources be given to them and they can rebuild themselves.

Call on rich black men and women to aid in this effort. Take over. Call on Obama, he’s from Chicago. Call on them! Go fund me. You need about 60 to 100million. That’s not much. Call on conscious whites call on them..

      • Rebecca June 12, 2017 at 11:34 pm

They should call Tyler Perry and Oprah they always love to help.

  2. Chantel Burton March 16, 2017 at 4:54 pm

That would be awesome of they could get the assistance they need. Why destroy them. Homeless people can have places to live. It can deter crime if people are living there. Chicago need to listen and help give these people grants and become proud neighborhoods and communities. They deserve to live good to. Great job guys.

  8. Michael Jones March 17, 2017 at 2:22 am

I said this a few weeks back let these guys sell legalized marijuana so that the money can go back into the hood. Then the rebuilding process starts with the generated income and then the hiring of workers and businesses in the construction area would have a trickle effect. Colorado generated $billion dollars from selling legalized marijuana so instead of locking young black men for it, let them make money the only way they know how. Giving them menial wages ain’t gonna cut it since they make over $500 a day hustling

This is an excellent effort worthy of all the support available….
If they could some kind of economic activity facilities so that the communities become self-sustaining, the loop would be complete and life restored.

  13. Eddy March 17, 2017 at 3:08 pm

Demolition means to kick them out of their common places. Now, when the filthy/greedy/Zionist developers rebuild, they’re only creating jobs for themselves and their clan, make the buildings so-called luxurious and Jack up the price on the apartments. That’s how greedy Zionist corporate pricks like the Trump, the Silverman got filthy rich anyway. Heartless/filthy SOBs!

I would love to help you Guy’s I know a lot about rehab and I got my own tools

    • John April 22, 2017 at 7:06 pm

Stop calling people out by name. They are in no way obligated to give monies as you see fit. Those two men you mentioned give to various charities and there time as thry see fit. Those men rehabilitating those properties didn’t call anyone they saw a need and combined there resources which were drive determination and long term goals of inclusion. They didn’t ask for a hand out just a helping hand. God bless them.

FORGET ABOUT IT … DOES ANYONE READ ANYMORE? …. LOOK FOR THE CODE WORDS OF INACTION AND FAILURE … SUCH AS …..

    1.) …… demanding

    2.) ….Literally in the process

3.) ….saying they are not going to allow the city to tear down perfectly good homes

4.) …….The men called on Alderman Michael Scott 24th Ward, Alderman Jason Ervin 28th Ward, and Alderman Walter Burnett 27th Ward and all the Aldermen across the city to help them make this happen.

7.) ….. they refuse to sit back and do nothing about it.

8.) …… He said they are demanding the resources be given to them and they can rebuild themselves.

    FORGET ABOUT IT……
In Chicago a coalition of black men converge upon a construction site to protest no black men on the job. When the contractor attempts to comply with their demands the contractor discovers as do every one watching that the black men don’t own their own tools, can/t read the blueprints nor have union affiliations or representation.

Black people must be prepared for the demands they make. Why ask for what you are not educationally or physically prepared to take or endure?

Pray tell what job is available in this society and culture for black people with the following black on black resume?

    1. One in four U.S. public high school students drop out before graduating.

    2. About 15 percent of the nation’s public high schools produce more than half of its dropouts and 75 percent of its minority dropouts, according to the Everyone Graduates Center.

    3. The nation’s 2,026 “dropout factories,” where 40 percent of the freshman class fail to graduate three years later, are found in every state but are concentrated in 17 Midwestern, Northern-industrial, Southern, and Southwestern states, as well as in California.

    4. In 2006, America’s 15-year-olds scored just ahead of the Slovak Republic and Lithuania in science literacy and on par with Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation in math literacy.

    5. More than half of the 81,499 U.S. high school students participating in the 2006 High School Survey of Student Engagement said they spend one hour or less each week reading and studying outside of class.

    6. At least 95 percent of students entering high school from the wealthiest communities are proficient in their eighth-grade state exams; in high-poverty, inner-city schools, less than 20 percent of students are proficient, usually possessing fifth- or sixth-grade math and reading skills.

    7. Of the class of 2008, 15.2 percent took an Advanced Placement exam and scored a 3 or above-the scores typically required by a college for credit-up from 12.2 percent in 2003. Low-income students made up 13.4 percent of successful examinees, up from 9.8 percent, in five years.

    8. Eighty-seven percent of high-school seniors surveyed by the U.S. Department of Education said they expected to go to college. Three-quarters of graduates enroll in college within two years.

    9. Approximately 40 percent of college students take remedial courses.

    10. The college graduation rate for low-income students is less than 10 percent.

Of course there are pockets of success. Referring to the U.S. education system broadly, The Secretary of Education told his audience of educators and reporters that……

Adult dysfunction has been at the heart” of the nation’s educational ills.

As a former trades person, I find your response regarding African Americans obtaining trades jobs problematic. African Americans who are over qualified with their own tools are often turned away. The history of the trade unions in Chicago has not been friendly towards African Americans.

You should contact the County Clerk. He will give you all the info you need about TIF programs. They have videos and do in-person talks about it. Good resource!

What’s somesuggestions to be prepared brother, so we can roll with that, appreciate it.

    • T.T. March 24, 2017 at 10:44 am

Now my observation is this. You seem to know a lot on the legal point of what needs to happen. Why not step up and help those that are trying to make a positive difference? Instead of sitting there displaying your vast knowledge on the subject, and insulting rather than offering to help make the change happen and ensure they are prepared for the battle to come that you were so quick to point out.

    • Jacqueline McCalester April 21, 2017 at 6:51 pm

I hear you!! This is where the Black men need to educate themselves and pool together those that have the expertise in these areas. Each and everyone of them posses a talent, that can be utilized. I know you’re saying, they need to be prepared for what they’re asking for. I think they are on the right track. It starts with a seed (idea) and then it needs all the other essentials. My hat is off to the brothers that are making an effort. They might want to start wirh the community buying the buildings first, then create all the jobs and up keep.

    • Ruby April 22, 2017 at 6:29 am

It’s people like you that compound the negativity of our cultural. Anyone willing to work toward rebuilding the Black communities should be applauded not discouraged. I’m sure whomever this team of young/old guys are they have taken all of what you are saying into consideration. Yes, you made some good.points but until the African American community start pulling together and working for the betterment of our children and communities it will remain the same or get worse. Why should someone else care more about my community than I do? As far as African Americans and education are Concerned we’ve been told since the beginning of time we’re dumb, stupid, can’t learn, and are under achievers. I don’t agree that poverty is an excuse for lack of books, hiring the best teachers, and insuring the teachers teach our children just as they would teach in white suburbia. I can go on and on but I’m going to allow you the opportunity to search yourself for solutions to the problems, not pour salt in the wounds.

  24. Mike D March 20, 2017 at 5:09 am

Look at my black brothers. Talk about proud, I’m so very proud of you all my brother it’s brothers like u that give hope to us older brothers. That’s 2 thumbs up 👍🏾 👍🏾 and a thank u to The Most High God.

    • Karen E June 11, 2017 at 4:50 pm

Mike D, I couldn’t say it better. People like this individual, who are filled with self loathing, sit back and criticize while others take action. They are to be ignored because instead of coming up with answeres to a problem, they are part of the problem. I don’t live in Chicago but if they start a go fund me sight, I will donate.
I applaud the MEN who put action ahead of criticism.

  25. Tamera Bonner March 20, 2017 at 8:44 pm

  28. Ted barclay April 28, 2017 at 9:02 pm

This is great for those guys who thought of rebuilding these abandon houses.i hope they document and keep all receipts and hours worked on repairing these buildings. They should keep a computerized filing system showing the building before and after repairs with detailed information of material and labor cost. So that just in case the city retaliates and tries to take back these buildings/homes from these guys the court will have to come into play and the city will have to pay for labor and material. I hope that this action is taken seriously and all the best to all involved.

  29. Sharon dukes June 11, 2017 at 3:54 am

I believe in these Men and I applaud what they’re doing, I prayed for this, for the community, for all people, but for black folks especially. I suggest they hire a lawyer, there are many in Non-profit organizations, that are good, and will help them, if the City comes after them. Better to be safe as the saying goes, and lets not count the community out, we would be more than willing to dig deep to assist in the revitalization of the community. Lastly, as one person suggested, a Go-fund Me is a powerful tool. Many blessing, and keep the faith, the Sister upstairs is with you.
